My parents and brother left Darwin on Sunday afternoon and are safe and sound back in the UK.
After a fantastic two weeks together my family have gone home. It’s been a bit of a crappy week coupled with the fact I picked up the Aussie’s annoying cough/cold thing on the weekend and just general tiredness from being back at work so I didn’t feel like posting till today.
It was such a brilliant experience showing my family around Darwin and taking them to places I love visiting but also discovering new places with them. It also inspired me to take my DSLR camera out and about with me and so I have about 1000 pictures to work through (oh man!). It’s definitely given me lots of inspiration for blog posts!
I also loved living in the same house as my parents and brother again as we haven’t done that since I was about 18 and left home to go to university in Bristol as before I moved back home again my brother moved out. It was lots of fun cooking together and just spending time together out in the garden of the house we were renting chatting, laughing and trying to avoid walking into the screen door when we went into the house (seriously both my Mum and the Aussie walked into the screen on the backdoor and I walked into the screen on the front door!). I loved getting up in the morning to see them and cooking us toast for breakfast before we went out on our adventures.
It was also great fun as my Mum spotted my favourite chocolate available for sale in the local supermarket as I have been looking for it everywhere and there it was sat in the British food section of an aisle. I stocked up on the galaxy chocolate bars that’s for sure!
I’m now counting down to getting home in September to see them again (I always seem to be a counting down kind of person) and if all goes according to plan it will only be 71 days until I step foot on British soil!
I also have to say a very very happy birthday to my lovely Dad! I hope he has a brilliant day and enjoys the little gifts me and the Aussie gave him.
